German 101/ Elementary German 1: Trip to Martin Gropius Bau

Claire’s section of German 1 continued their exploration of art thematizing displacement and engagement with unfamiliar cultures on Monday June 9th with a trip to the Martin Gropius Bau to see the exhibition “Wols Photograph: der gerettete Blick.”

In the gallery they took a look at the portrait and still life photography of Wolfgang Schulze who was born in Germany, but lived for many years in Paris. Students practiced their German by constructing backstories for the people featured in Schulze’s work.

IMG_0337As an added bonus students were also able to view part of an exhibition by the famous Chinese artist Ai Weiwei.
